Key leaders from the Canadian aerospace industry will be in Winnipeg on Friday as part of the first leg of a national tour.

The tour, supported by the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC), aims to better inform Canadians on the benefits of the sector both nationally and within each region, including high-paying and high-quality jobs that will impact both national and local economies.

The Canadian aerospace industry was responsible for supporting nearly 80,000 jobs in 2009, with a revenue of more than $22 billion.

The Winnipeg Economic Development will host Ian Smart, Senior Vice President Airlines and Fleets at StandardAero, at The Fairmont Winnipeg starting at 7:30 a.m.

The national tour will then visit Montreal, Vancouver and continue into March with speaking engagements and stakeholder meetings in Halifax, Toronto and Ottawa.
