Team Manitoba Men’s Hockey Leaving for Winter Games

The 2011 Canada Winter Games begin Saturday in Halifax, and U-16 Team Manitoba is ready to head east to compete.

The first week (February 11 to 19) will feature men’s hockey in an Under-16 competition that will see the country’s top players born in 1995. Following in Week 2 (February 20 to 26) will be women’s hockey which is an Under-18 competition hosting the country’s top players born in 1993, 1994, and 1995.

Leading the way for the U-16 Team Manitoba squad will be Paul Stoykewych of the Winnipeg Wild (Midget AAA) and U-18 Team Manitoba will be led by Kristine Grenier of the Pembina Valley Hawks (Female Midget AA).

The U-16 Team will practice at the MTS Iceplex this morning prior to departing for Halifax just before 4 p.m.
