Sudanese Community Calls on Feds for Peace in Country

February 14, 2011 6:31 AM | News

Members of Winnipeg’s Sudanese community will converge on the University of Winnipeg on Tuesday.

Thirty people from Eyes on Sudan will hold a third Dialogue on Sudan session to call for action to the deplorable conditions in their homeland.

The group has been calling on the federal government to send a high-level delegation to Sudan to help implement lasting peace in the region. A petition was delivered to Public Safety Minister Vic Toews, asking for his support.

The Dialogue on Sudan group began meeting during the referendum vote in Sudan in January.

The public session will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. in Room 2M70, second floor of Manitoba Hall.
