A green-driven program at The Forks has won an “Earthie” award from the Manitoba Eco-Network.
The Forks’ Target Zero program was recognized in the Protecting the Earth category for its goal of reducing its carbon footprint wherever possible.
“Target Zero continues to evolve and change the way we do things here,” said Paul Jordan, Chief Operating Officer of The Forks. “Some technologies we thought would work, like wind turbines, didn’t because there wasn’t enough wind. But we’ve come back and seen that maybe smaller turbies could. Geothermal was a huge win, but it wasn’t easy. We now have the most innovative system in North America.”
