A two-day food conference will be an opportunity to learn new food skills, support local farmers, work towards healthy, fair, and sustainable food for all Manitobans.
The Growing Local Getting Vocal Food Security Conference is being put on by Food Matters Manitoba Thursday and Friday at the University of Winnipeg.
Joel Salatin from the Academy Award-nominated documentary “Food, Inc.” will be the keynote speaker. Salatin is a self-described “Christian libertarian environmental capitalist.” He will be sharing and demonstrating how local food can feed the world.
The conference will feature the winners of Manitoba’s first ever high school “Localvore Iron Chef Cook-Off” competition and “A Culinary Tour of Manitoba.”
Tickets are almost sold out. For further details visit FoodMattersManitoba.ca.
