There are a lot of razors working overtime today after dozens of men came out Friday night to be judged in Festival du Voyageur’s annual Beard Growing Contest.

Contestants were clean-shaven in December and had been growing their facial hair wild up until last night.

Contestants competed in four categories, including the Voyageur Beard (wild and woolly), the Novelty category (groomed mustache or beard), the Festival’s own category and the Media category. There were 50 contestants in total, which helped raise funds for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
