Woman Killed in Snowmobile Crash Near Steinbach

A snowmobile collision Sunday evening near Steinbach has claimed the life of a 48-year-old woman.

RCMP say at about 7:40 p.m., a snowmobile collided with a guide wire of a hydro pole at the intersection of Highway 12 and Hanover Road, just south of Steinbach.

The snowmobile was travelling northbound in the ditch next to Highway 12 at the time when it hit the wire. The 48-year-old female passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the 43-year-old driver was taken to Bethesda Hospital, where he was treated and released.

Both occupants of the snowmobile were from Steinbach.

According to RCMP, alcohol was not a factor in the accident. The investigation is continuing.
