A new film looking at Winnipeg’s urban forests will debut at the IMAX Theatre next week.

“Green City” follows local arborist Dave Lutes to discover the rare and precious resource that Winnipeggers have in their own backyard. The film shows how the city has lost more than 40,000 Elms to Dutch Elm Disease in the last decade, while showing how Winnipeg has one of the largest and most impressive urban forests in North America.

The 50-minute film features stunning perspectives of the city from the air, rivers, streets, parks and tree tops.

The film debuts Wednesday, March 9 at 7 p.m. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. Admission is free, but seating is limited. To reserve a spot, e-mail mel.marginet@gmail.com by March 7.
