A free public skate showcasing Manitoba’s 2012 Olympic and Paralympic hopefuls will take place on Friday as part of Skate with Champions.

Three skating sessions at 6 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8 p.m. will occur at MTS Centre, and include past champion Jennifer Botterill.

Botterill is multi-Olympic Gold Medallist who currently plays for the Toronto Aeros in Canadian national women’s hockey team.

Kids in attendance will be treated to games, hot chocolate and an autograph session.

The public can access the event through the main MTS Centre doors on Portage Avenue and Donald Street starting at 5:45 p.m. Kids under 12 will be required to wear helmets on the ice.

Botterill will also visit Norquay School earlier in the day.
