2011 High School Hockey Championships Underway

It’s a big ol’ hockey weekend in the province as the 2011 Milk Provincial High School Hockey Championships are underway in Morris and Winnipeg.

The “AA” Championship action began on Thursday at the Morris Arena with round-robin games, and the semi-finals are scheduled for later today. The Championship Final game will go on Saturday at 1:30 p.m.

Over in the “AAAA” Championships, the semi-finals are being held today at the MTS Iceplex, with eight teams taking part in a single elimination tournament.

The tourney will include the # 1 ranked St. Paul’s Crusaders, Oak Park Raiders, Kelvin Clippers, Westwood Warriors, River East Kodiaks, Dauphin Clippers, W.C. Miller (Altona) Aces, and College Jeanne-Sauve Olympiens. Game time today is 3:30 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. with a second set of games at 5:30 p.m. and 5:45 p.m. The semi–finals take place at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Saturday. The Championship Final is scheduled for 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16.

The defending champion Vincent Massey Trojans did not advance this year.
