The Winnipeg Goldeyes signed a catcher away from one of their main rivals on Friday.
Alan Rick will join the Fish this season and comes from the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks, where he spent the last three season.
The 27-year-old batted .253 with 11 home runs and 49 RBI in 85 games. Additional to his catching duties, he spent time at first base and designated hitter.
“He’s a left-handed hitter and has a lot of experience calling the game in Independent baseball,” Manager Rick Forney said in a release. “I think he will be a huge asset to the pitching staff.”
Rick played in the Chicago Cubs organization for six seasons before joining the RedHawks, where he reached Double-A in 2007.
