March 13, 2011 10:35 AM | News

A two-vehicle collision has claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman from Scanterbury.

The crash happened on Saturday at about 2 p.m. on Highway 17 just north of Highway 325 in the RM of Fisher.

RCMP say a Chevrolet Blazer was travelling northbound on Highway 17 when it collided with a southbound semi-trailer.

The woman driving the Blazer was pronounced dead at the scene, while her 45-year-old male passenger — also from Scanterbury — was taken to hospital with undetermined injuries.

The 58-year-old Dauphin man driving the semi wasn’t injured.

Road conditions at the time were reported to be extremely icy. Alcohol is not considered a factor.

Police continue to investigate and no names have been released.
