A floral shop in downtown Winnipeg is embracing the spirit of its location with a new name.

Bernadsky’s Academy Florist in Portage Place Shopping Centre has become Freshcut Downtown.

Local entrepreneurs and sisters, Melanie and Monica Bernadsky, have owned the store for the last 15 years.

“We thought re-naming the store with “Downtown” in the title was important to show our continued support and continued effort in serving and bringing vitality into Winnipeg’s core area,” said co-owner Monica Bernadsky.

Besides downtown and citywide, the sisters also cater to out of town customers with deliveries to rural areas like Oakbank.
