The Île-des-Chênes Arena has undergone extreme renovations and upgrades to make the facility a “green” building.
A new geothermal system was installed, which is connected directly to the firehall, that will soon be cooling and heating the new community centre currently under construction.
The upgrades make the RM of Ritchot one of the greenest municipalities in Manitoba, and the first to have a geothermal system capable of heating three separate buildings.
Local Government Minister Ron Lemieux and Mayor Bob Stefaniuk from the RM of Ritchot will preside over a ribbon-cutting ceremony today at 10 a.m. to officially reopen the arena.
