It’s often hard to find time during our busy schedules to help out charitable organizations and agencies in the city.
This is where Timeraiser comes in — a unique concept happening for the first time in Winnipeg.
Instead of raising money for a cause, Timeraiser raises time to pair volunteers with agencies needing help. Participants pay $20 to attend and are given the opportunity to learn about the local causes needing assistance in their area.
The Toronto-based event has taken place in other Canadian cities for as many as eight years already.
Winnipeg’s Timeraiser will be on Friday, May 6 at the West End Cultural Centre. The goal is to raise 4,000 volunteer hours.
The second part of the event will feature local art work, where corporate sponsors can purchase the art to help support local artists, and also have the pieces featured in prominent workspaces for one year. After one year, the art is given to a volunteer who has bid and fulfilled the highest number of hours.
Tickets for the event will be going on sale in early April. The cost is to offset the price of renting the facility.
