Japan Fundraiser in the Exchange District Tonight

March 24, 2011 7:35 AM | Entertainment

A local fundraiser to aid disaster relief in Japan after the tragic earthquake and tsunami earlier this month will be held at Alive in the District tonight.

“The tragedy in Japan has effected many of us here in Winnipeg,” said event organizer Tadao Horikawa. “We hope to get members of the community out to support our friends and family back in Japan.”

On Sunday, the Manitoba Japanese Canadian Cultural Centre held their own fundraiser, attracting hundreds to come out and support the Canadian Red Cross. Tonight’s fundraiser is also benefiting the Red Cross.

The entertainment line-up includes local DJs Footwerk, Maverick and Hypnotic, as well as Ofield and Relic Hunter with special guests. B-Boy group Dangerous Goods will also perform.

The 18+ event runs from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.
