City of Winnipeg workers voted Friday 85% in favour of the city contract their union recommended they accept.

About 5,000 members of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 500 will be working under the agreement, which extends until December 27, 2014.

The new deal provides a wage increase of six percent over four years. Also included is employment security, increases to pension contributions and improved benefits, as well as increases to shift premium and tool allowance.
