The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Local 500 is holding a food drive today and encouraging their 5,000 members to do their part.

The union that represents City of Winnipeg workers will be participating in the “CUPE Members Can” food drive in support of Winnipeg Harvest. Members are asked to bring non-perishable food items or a cash donation to help curb hunger in the city.

The drive will run all day from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the second floor Pan Am Room of the Winnipeg Convention Centre.

Winnipeg Blue Bomber Kelly Butler will also stop by during the day to lend his support.

The food drive will be going on during the ratification vote on the CUPE/City of Winnipeg tentative collective agreement.
