Winnipeg police are reminding residents to check their mailboxes daily due to an increase in residential mailbox theft.

Police say there has been a spike in apartment and condominium mailbox break-ins throughout the city.

Police suggest making arrangements for your mail to be picked up, forwarded or stopped if you’re going to be away for an extended period of time. Sensitive and valuable personal information is often sent via mail and can be used to facilitate other fraud-related crimes.
