Employees from Canada’s largest banks will roll up their sleeves and donate blood today.
The 8th Annual Bank Blood Battle kicks off on the main level of 201 Portage Avenue at 10 a.m. in support of Canadian Blood Services.
Representatives from BMO Bank of Montreal, CIBC, RBC Royal Bank, Scotiabank and TD Canada Trust are all taking part, with the 2011 goal of reaching 125 donations in one month.
The challenge brought in 109 blood donations in 2010. Top honours went to Scotiabank with 14% of their employees donating blood, followed by RBC Royal Bank with 6%.
Winnipeggers can join the challenge themselves by giving blood at the Winnipeg Blood Donor Clinic, 777 William Avenue. To book a donation appointment, call 1-888-2-DONATE (1-888-236-6283).
The Bank Blood Battle runs until April 30.
