Joannie Rochette (HANDOUT)
Olympic figure skater Joannie Rochette will be visiting the city on June 23.
Rochette made headlines during the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games when she overcame the sudden death of her mother — who suffered a massive heart attack — to win a bronze medal.
The six-time Canadian Champion and World Silver Medallist will share her story to prevent heart disease from taking the lives of other Canadian women at the Investors Group Heart Truth Luncheon at the Fort Garry Hotel.
The 25-year-old will deliver her keynote during a noon hour luncheon to raise awareness among women in Manitoba.
Tickets are $50 each or $600 for corporate tables of 10. Seating is limited and last year’s inaugural event sold out.
All money raised will support the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba. To order tickets, call (204) 949-2000 or 1-888-473-4636.
