A special evening celebrating music, poetry and art will take place in an intimate setting at the Winnipeg Art Gallery on April 13.

Heroines of History looks at the past and present significance of biblical heroines as presented by poet Bonnie Loewen, harpsichordist Irmgard Baerg, and art educator Rachel Baerg.

“Many biblical women as diverse as Salome, the Virgin Mary, and early Christian martyrs like St. Cecelia, were painted repeatedly by medieval and Renaissance artists to achieve nothing less than heroine status,” said WAG educator Rachel Baerg. “We have three significant paintings in our own collection which will serve as inspiration for this evening’s program.”

Tickets are $15 for WAG members and $20 for non-members.
