Layton Campaigns at NDP Rally in Winnipeg

April 6, 2011 7:44 AM | News

NDP leader Jack Layton held a campaign rally in Winnipeg on Tuesday evening at the Ukrainian Labour Temple.

Watch:

Speaking to a crowd of about 500 supporters, Layton urged Prime Minister Stephen Harper to provide disaster funding to Manitoba in response to spring flooding. Layton said Harper ignored the province in 2009 and refused to fund flood protection.

Earlier in the day, Layton made a policy announcement and campaigned with Winnipeg North NDP candidate Rebecca Blaikie at Johnny’s Maples Pizza and Restaurant.

The NDP leader will campaign in Prince George and Cranbrook, BC today.
