Composer to Be Honoured at Celebratory Concert

A free public concert Friday night will celebrate the 60th birthday of renowned composter Dr. Michael Matthews.

University of Manitoba faculty and guests will gather at the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music at 7:30 p.m. in Eva Clare Hall.

Matthews’s career dates back to 1972 with his first commissioned work. Since then, he has composed more than 170 pieces, varying from works for orchestra, wind ensemble, choral, vocal, soloists, and chamber works to electroacoustic music, works for theatre, and young performers.

Admission to the birthday concert and celebration is free.
