The City of Winnipeg is catching up to the times by implementing the use of social media to comunicate flood and emergency preparedness strategies.

The city has activated a Facebook, Twitter and YouTube account, which will support their existing EmergWeb site to provide residents with additional sources of up-to-date information.

Emergency Preparedness Coordinator Randy Hull says that staying informed and planning ahead are the most important things people can do to stay safe during an emergency situation.

The city’s EmergWeb website is regularly updated during an emergency and is available 24/7.
