An early morning fire charred out what was left of the former Silver Heights Collegiate building on Lodge Avenue on Thursday.

Firefighters were called to the scene at about 2:30 a.m. to put out the blaze on the roof of the school’s gymnasium.
The building has been vacant since 2007, so firefighters didn’t bother venturing inside and only fought the flames from outside.
No one was injured in the fire and the cause remains under investigation.
