Saturday is National Pasta Day, as the Canadian Culinary Federation (CCFCC) hosts the nation-wide pasta party at The Forks.

Nineteen cities are participating to benefit their own local charities. Hundreds of plates of pasta will be served between 11:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. in support of Winnipeg Harvest.

Pasta lovers can enjoy a plate of spaghetti with their choice of meat or vegetarian sauce and a bread stick for $5.

“We are a big community here and one where Winnipeggers gather,” said organizer Mo Razik, owner of Fenton’s Group of Companies. “We know too that we are a very generous city so we hope to fill the bellies of others while we fill our own.”
