A 61-year-old man has drowned after his vehicle was submerged in water in the RM of De Salaberry.

RCMP say the man was attempting to cross the flooded-out Allarie Road at the time when his vehicle left the roadway.

The Niverville resident had not returned home from an outing on Friday and a search began. His body was located at about 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

No one else was in the vehicle and police are continuing to investigate.

The man’s name isn’t being released.
