Manitoba’s arts and cultural community will come together today for Colloquium 2011: Art, Culture and Creativity as a Catalyst for Change.
The one-day event will draw on business leaders, planners, academics and government to discuss how the arts and cultural industry can transform communities around the world.
The guest speaker will be Tim Jones, CEO of Artscape Toronto. Jones will speak on Toronto’s achievements and lessons learned as they relate to Manitoba.
Culture Minister Flor Marcelino will open the event, followed by a 40-minute presentation by Jones.
Colloquium 2011 takes place at the Millennium Centre from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m.
ACI Manitoba — a non-profit organization created to support arts and cultural industries in the province — is hosting the event.
