More than 1,200 students from Vincent Massey Collegiate will be shelving class on Friday to participate in a world-building exercise.

The VMC students will be joined by 200 others from high schools in Manitoba and will attend a speech by “Free the Children” co-founder Marc Kielburger, that will focus on the belief that a single individual can make a difference in the world.

The rest of the day will be made up of forty sessions being presented by local people who are making a positive change in the world.

Three basic themes of UNESCO will be covered as part of the sessions, including child soldiers, human trafficking and poverty.

The day will draw to a close with a concert by Winnipeg duo Keith and Renée.
