Siloam Mission received the largest meat donation in its history Friday morning.

The Manitoba Pork Council dropped off 100 bone-in Winkler hams, 20 cases of pork sausages, 500 pork-on-a-bun and $3,000 in cash.

Earlier this week, Siloam Mission announced a major expansion, prompting the Pork Council to step up and help expand the meal program used to feed the city’s homeless.

Siloam’s meal program has grown to 1,785 meals per week since taking over the Madison Memorial Lodge — a 25% increase from before.

“Our hope is that it helps in some small way as Siloam boldly tackles hunger and homelessness in Winnipeg,” said Karl Kynoch, Manitoba Pork Chairman.
