Garbonzo’s, Stella’s Opening Up at U of W

Students and staff at the University of Winnipeg will have several additional food options after three new eateries were announced on Wednesday.

Canad Inns will open Garbonzo’s Pizza Pub in the U of W’s renovated AnX at 491 Portage Avenue, and the university’s own Diversity Food Services will open Elements — The Restaurant in the Richardson College for the Environment and Science Complex, located on Portage Avenue at Langside Street.

“Our goal is to become a premier restaurant known for its culinary expertise and our commitment to socially responsible practices,” said Chef Kramer.

Finally, the well-known Stella’s Café and Bakery will open in the new Buhler Centre, Plug In Institute of Contemporary Art and be open from 6:30 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Sunday. Besides the breads, croissants, danishes and muffins, Stella’s will offer great lunch options with full evening dinners.

Stella’s is expected to open by June, with Elements and Garbonzo’s opening by September 2011.
