Traffic detour construction on the Osborne Bridge will be completed this weekend, while the east side of bridge and Osborne Street from River Avenue to Broadway will be closed to traffic while bridge and road rehabilitation work begins.

The city says the east lanes will remain closed until October 2011, with the east bridge sidewalk also being closed.

The west bridge sidewalk will be open while the east side of the bridge is closed for construction.

Three lanes of traffic will be provided on the west side of the bridge and Osborne Street while the east side of the bridge and Osborne Street are closed for construction work. The west bridge sidewalk will be open during this time. There will be two southbound lanes and one northbound lane except during morning rush hour when there will be two northbound lanes and one southbound lane.

Construction began April 12 and most motorists have been using the Midtown Bridge as an alternate route.
