The annual fundraising campaign in support of the Children’s Miracle Network was launched on Thursday.
Healthy Living Minister Jim Rondeau and Champion Child Ethan Burnell kicked off the fundraising initiative at Walmart on Kenaston Boulevard.
Ethan was diagnosed with a brain tumor when he was four-years-old, leaving him with permanent balance issues and mild deficits.
The campaign will conclude on June 12 with the Walmart Walk for Miracles at St. Vital Park. The retail chain hopes to raise $4 million across Canada to support the 2.6 million children who receive care each year at Canadian children’s hospitals.
The annual walkathon supports 130,000 patients at Winnipeg’s Children’s Hospital every year.
Walmart Canada will hold walkathons in 12 cities nationwide.
