The Winnipeg Goldeyes signed right-handed pitcher Jamie Vermilyea to the team on Friday.

The 29-year-old was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 9th Round of the 2003 MLB amateur draft and played two games for the Jays in 2007.

Vermilyea was released by Toronto after making four appearances with Triple-A Las Vegas last season. He then signed with the Maui Na Koa Ikaika of the Golden Baseball League.

The Goldeyes also announced right-handed starting pitcher Mark Holliman has retired from professional baseball and has been released by the club.

Training camp begins Saturday at Shaw Park. Players will workout on the field from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Workouts are open to the public.
