Winnipeg Goldeyes Open Up Training Camp Today

April 30, 2011 8:24 AM | Sports

The Winnipeg Goldeyes held a media day Friday to preview their upcoming season and get some informal practice on the field.

Watch:

The Goldeyes have been stacking their roster for months now in preparation for their home opener on May 12 against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. The Fish will play a number of exhibition games to loosen up, beginning on May 3 and 4 against the Gary SouthShore RailCats on the road, before heading to St. Paul to face the Saints on May 5 and 6.

Fans will get their first look at this year’s squad during two exhibition games at Shaw Park on May 9 and 10 when the Goldeyes host St. Paul.

Training camp workouts begin today downtown — albeit under colder than normal temperatures. The public can watch from between 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. today and Sunday.

The Goldeyes have a training camp roster of 28 players signed for the 2011 season, including 16 pitchers and 12 position players.
