Snowmobiler Found Dead Near Gilbert Plains

May 2, 2011 10:46 AM | News

Blizzard conditions are being blamed on the death of a Gilbert Plains man who didn’t return home after venturing out on a snowmobile Saturday night.

RCMP say the man used a neighbour’s snowmobile to borrow a nearby portable generator to restore power at his home, but didn’t return. A search began Sunday morning by neighbours, where they located the body of 53-year-old Mervin Peter Kufley

Kufley and his snowmobile were found in a field about one kilometre from where he started his journey.

The incident happened about 22 kilometres north of Gilbert Plains.

Foul play is not suspected, and police are continuing to investigate.
