Soon-to-be graduating students at the University of Manitoba will reflect back on the teachers and professors who made significant impacts on their lives during a reception this afternoon.

The theme of “going the extra mile” is most significant this year as some graduating students are giving tributes to teachers who taught them in small rural schools or large urban complexes from kindergarten to university.

“This is certainly one of the best events of the year,” said Cheryl Kristjanson, director of University Teaching Services. “Each year, students give personal tributes to men and women who made such a difference in their lives and inspired them to become the leaders and outstanding young people they are today.”

The reception will begin at 3:30 p.m. in the Multi-Purpose Room of University Centre on the U of M’s Fort Garry campus.

It will also be live streamed at UManitoba.ca.
