May 6, 2011 7:44 AM | Entertainment

The world of science will be explored Saturday at Science Rendezvous 2011.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the University of Manitoba and the Inner City Science Centre will host numerous events to promote science, and offer hands-on activities and demonstrations.

The majority of events will take place at the Engineering and Information Technology Complex (EITC) on the U of M’s Fort Garry Campus, while the Inner City Science Centre: Niji Mahkwa School, 450 Flora Avenue, will provide tours of the ICSL student laboratories.

Over at the U of M, attendees will see a chemistry magic show, tour the Cretaceous Menagerie Museum, see an aerostat (mini-blimp) flying inside the EITC atrium — used to monitor riverbank erosion — as well as a formula race car, formula hybrid race car and baja vehicle designs.

Interactive activities and displays will also include the making of candy DNA, watching an earthquake simulator and much more.
