Water Meter Readers to Visit Homes Beginning Today

May 11, 2011 7:25 AM | News

Beginning today, the city’s meter readers will be making the rounds to households throughout Winnipeg.

The annual summer water meter reading program will run until the end of August, with readers visiting homes between 2:30 p.m. and dusk Monday to Friday.

Meter readers will be dressed in dark blue pants or shorts, and a light blue striped shirt with a City of Winnipeg Water and Waste logo over the pocket. All readers wear photo identification and carry a hand-held computer.

Meter readers do not collect money, and residents are encouraged to check their identification before allowing a reader into their home.

Regular meter readings prevent estimated bills and can signal costly plumbing leaks.
