Third baseman Amos Ramon just began his season with the Winnipeg Goldeyes, but it’s already come to an end.

Ramon tore the ACL in his left knee during Thursday night’s home opener against the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. The injury happened in the top of the fourth inning, sending Ramon to the inactive list.

“Losing Amos is a big blow to our baseball club,” manager Rick Forney said in a statement. “We expected him to be a big part of our team this season and our everyday third baseman. Hopefully he can rehab from this over the coming months and be ready for next season.”

The Fish will meet Fargo again tonight after defeating them 4-2 on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m. at Shaw Park, followed by post-game fireworks.
