It was an eventful weekend southeast of Portage la Prairie as crews deliberately breached a dike along Highway 331 at Hoop and Holler Bend.

The cut in the dike sent water from the Assiniboine River flowing across farm land nearby, as residents raced to protect their protect their property.

By Saturday afternoon, a home about 200 yards from the breach site was already inundated with water, but was maintained by large aqua dams.

On Sunday, about 400 cubic feet per second (cfs) was flowing through the release point.
