Winnipeg Jets fans gathered at Portage and Main Thursday night to celebrate the reported announcement that the Atlanta Thrashers will be relocating to Winnipeg.

According to a Globe and Mail story by Stephen Brunt, an official announcement on the move to Winnipeg will be made Tuesday. Brunt says NHL commissioner Gary Bettman will be in the city at that time. The Globe article states True North Sports and Entertainment — owners of MTS Centre and the Manitoba Moose — would own the team. Neither TNSE or the NHL has confirmed the news.
