Mining Week officially began Thursday at The Forks, educating the public on the province’s mining industry.
Manitoba Rocks! offers a number of free activities until Saturday, including the opportunity to pan for gold with champion gold panner Yukon Dan, dig dirt for fossils, collect your own fossil and mineral samples, and learn about Manitoba’s rich mining history from the 1800s to the present.
Attendees can also enter to win prizes and pick up free schwag just for showing up.
Hours today are 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday.
Rain won’t have a damper on this weekend’s activities, as the fun is taking place under the canopy.
