The Winnipeg Fire Department is continuing their annual boot drive in support of Muscular Dystrophy Canada.
The three-day event began Thursday at Canada Safeway stores and will run today and Saturday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“Winnipeg firefighters have a strong tradition of supporting local families dealing with neuromuscular disorders,” said firefighter and organizer Chad Swayze. “The boot drive is an easy way for us to raise awareness and much needed funds.
Last year’s boot drive raised nearly $25,000.
The fundraising initiative comes just days before the 5th annual Winnipeg Safeway Walk for Muscular Dystrophy Canada at Kildonan Park on Saturday.
