May 27, 2011 6:43 AM | News

For the next four weekends, the City of Winnipeg plans to shut down Osborne Street South between Pembina Highway/Corydon Avenue and Mulvey Avenue East.

The move is to accommodate the girder and truss installation for the Southwest Rapid Transit Corridor overpass.

This weekend’s closure will be in effect Saturday at 6 a.m. until Sunday at 10 p.m.

Next weekend, Osborne will be closed from 6 a.m. on Saturday, June 4 to 10 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, and then again on Friday, June 10 at 8 p.m. to Monday, June 13 at 4 a.m.

If work isn’t complete by then, the city will close the street for a fourth weekend on Friday, June 24 at 8 p.m. until Monday, June 27 at 4 a.m.

Winnipeg Transit will continue to operate their regular routes through the closure, but public vehicles are encouraged to use alternate routes such as Jubilee Avenue and Pembina Highway.
