The Winnipeg Goldeyes will be encouraging more Manitobans to roll up their sleeves and donate blood this summer.
The Fish will launch a new Fishing for Donors initiative with Canadian Blood Services at a news conference this morning.
“Many of us have a personal connection to blood donation,” said Goldeyes GM Andrew Collier. “My Dad was a regular blood donor until he was diagnosed with kidney disease. He has received two blood transfusions so far.”
Fans will have a chance to win official Goldeyes merchandise by bringing their ticket stub to any blood donor clinic in Manitoba beginning today through August 31.
Goldeyes mascot Goldie will also be present at today’s presser and is slated to somehow donate blood.
