The University of Winnipeg is getting set to host the Summer in the City Basketball Tournament on June 11.
The fundraiser will support the Inner City Junior Wesmen program, helping about 40 neighbourhood girls to play basketball at the Duckworth Centre. The program has been expanded this year to include three boys teams.
Summer in the City will take place inside the Duckworth Centre and features a skills competition and three-on-three basketball tournament for participants of all ages.
The tournament begins on the 11th at 9 a.m. with a survivor skills basketball competition on Spence Street open to all competitors. The three-on-three portion of the day will begin at 10 a.m. for boys and girls in the 8-17 year-old categories as well.
