If you didn’t celebrate the NHL’s return to Winnipeg enough on Tuesday, the party will continue this afternoon at a downtown bar.
Darren Ford, the founder of JetsOwner.com — a website devoted to the eventual return of pro hockey to Winnipeg — will host the Mission: Accomplished party at 4Play Sports Bar beginning at 3 p.m.
Attendees will pay $20 at the door and be treated to Sleeman beverages, food and an official “Mission: Accomplished” T-shirt, designed in the colours of the cherished Winnipeg Jets logo.
Proceeds from the event will help support the launch of “Jake’s Tickets,” a charitable campaign aimed at sending disadvantaged kids to NHL games. The campaign is named after Ford’s own son, Jake.
There will be Jets memorabilia auctions, surprise guests and the Avco Cup will even make an appearance.
4Play is located directly across from MTS Centre at 323 Portage Avenue. The event will run all night.
As for his website, Ford says it will “live on in another capacity somehow, someway.”
General season tickets for the NHL go on sale Saturday at noon at Driveto13.com. True North had sold 4,170 tickets by Thursday afternoon.
