The province has declared June 11 and 12 Family Fishing Weekend this year.

Anglers throughout Manitoba will be able to fish without a provincial licence, except in federal parks where a federal licence will still be required.

Those who fish will be allowed to keep up to a conservation limit of four walleye/sauger, four pike, two smallmouth bass, two stocked trout, one channel catfish and one lake trout. Limits for other species remain the same as those for a regular licence.

Despite not having to have a licence, anglers are still encouraged to review the 2011 Manitoba Anglers’ Guide at ManitobaFisheries.com.
